What is Takeda Wing System?
For hundreds of years, since the time of Vivaldi and Bach, bassoons have been made with virtually no changes to their construction. However, traditional construction sacrifices the natural flow of breath in order to fit the tone holes to the width of a player's fingers, making it difficult for players to maintain accurate pitch and play small notes.
Takeda Bassoon has focused on this “breath flow problem” and created a revolutionary bassoon – Takeda Wing System (TWS)* – which is surprisingly easy to play by modifying the structure of tone holes and creating the most natural breath flow.
Pianissimo and high tone sounds, which were easily affected by a reed on a conventional bassoon, are now much easier to produce. Many people will be surprised by the remarkably smooth playing feel.

1 – Natural Breath Flow
New structure realizes natural breath flow
After passing through the reed and bocal, the breath flows to the wing joint and exits through the D and E tone holes without going against the flow of breath. This natural flow of breath achieves a remarkably smooth playing feel.
2 – Exchangeable Wing Joint
Attachable to all Takeda Bassoons
TWS can be attached to all Takeda Bassoon products released in the past. Please experience the performance with your own Takeda Bassoon. It can also be installed on bassoons made by other companies. Please contact us for details.
3 – Made in Iijima Japan Factory
All carefully manufactured in Japan
Our Iijima Factory where TWS is manufactured is located in Nagano, Japan. There, you can see the Central Alps in the west and the Southern Alps in the east. Blessed with majestic mountains and clear streams of melting snow, TWS is manufactured one by one in a quiet landscape at the foot of a rich forest.

Newly Released Exclusively in Japan
Two products are coming out in April 2023!
In April 2023, Takeda Bassoon will release two products exclusively in Japan: TWS Wing Joint and Model Takeda, which uses TWS Wing Joint on Model 4.
TWS Wing Joint can be attached to all our products sold to date as well as to bassoons made by other companies. Please contact us for details.
